The colorful pieces are 3/4 inch thick, are large and easy to manipulate, and can even be stacked to create vertical designs (additional image). Colored with non-toxic water-based dyes, minimally finished with sharp edges removed. No varnishes. What is a Tangram?The tangram puzzle is a clever matching game that has been around forthousands of years. For a game to endure that long it must have somevery special qualities! The open-endedness of the puzzle invites theplayer to apply elements of imagination and creative ability - eachplayer at his own level. A very young child will play with the shapesand arrange them in abstract patterns, then learn to form them backinto a square. Games for older children include fitting the pieces intopredesigned patterns following templates (usually animals and objects)and creating designs of their own.
