Holztiger animals are made from beautiful, durable, maple wood, which is sanded to a smooth and soft surface that's pleasant to the touch. Figures are hand-painted with non-toxic water-based paints and given a layer of water-based laquer to make the them resistant to the moisture from hands and mouths. The grain of the wood is still visible even after painting, so that the full character of the wood is retained.
